Every saint has a past and every sinner has a future.
Hi. My name is Ovidiu Spatacian-Tarnu but you can call me Ovi. I'm a graphic and web designer. I've got a degree in English and French literature and language. At the moment I'm also doing a degree in Theology. So I guess all this explains my passion for a visual design that can tell deeply impacting stories. Stay hooked up to see some of the ideas I come with as I explore more designing techniques.

Ps. 107:1 When an Israelite would meditate on God’s faithful love, he would have to go way back in history. He would consider how God chose the patriarchs and how He protected them in a foreign land where they lived as foreigners. Then he would remember the Egyptian slavery and how God saved the twelve tribes with a mighty hand from it to give them a land abundant in blessings. Then he would look at David’s life and how God kept him alive to secure the nation of Israel in the middle of pagan nations. Then he would remind himself of the Temple and how God came to live among His people. Then he would probably confess his nation’s idolatry and wonder why God would still preserve a remnant for Himself through to fulfill His purposes through them. An Israelite would have many reasons to be grateful to God for. But how about you?

The people who influence us most are those who have constantly gone beyond themselves to help their neighbours even if there has never been an obvious gain for them.

Our previous experiences may determine some of the associations that we make with certain colors. For instance, I associate light blue with freedom, adventure and a sense of peace. This might be because of the sky in the summer, or because of the clean sea water. But in my case, it certainly is because of my room in my parents’ house where I spent much of my childhood. The walls were painted light blue and, as a child, I remember becoming very quiet the moment I entered that room. That’s where I read stories about cowboys for the first time.
What does light blue mean to you?

Color is one of the design topics that concern me most. It’s a powerful tool when it comes to create identity systems. But as it’s so often the case with power, it has to be used responsibly. A good color scheme can enhance your key message but a bad one will ruin all your hard work. So how do I choose a color scheme?
I don’t do it until I have decided what I want to achieve with it.
I choose one basic color or if I want to create a strong contrast I choose two but no more than that.
I go for one of the seven possible color schemes: achromatic, analogous, clash, complementary, monochromatic, neutral, and split complementary.
I refine the color scheme to suit legibility and aesthetic requirements.
By following these four steps, I make sure that my colors send the right message, are attractive and meet my users’ needs at the same time.
Would you like to share your own process for creating color schemes?

0to255 is a project I’ve been working on that helps web designers find lighter and darker colors based off of any color.
I really hope it’s useful for you guys. I’d love to hear any feedback, praise, or problems you have. You can do so by clicking the Give feedback link on the site. Enjoy!

I’m trying to combine graphic design with stories. This is the underlying principle of all my design work. Hope you like it.
